Teacher's Workshops » Inspiring With Instruments
Or otherwise known as:
• Making Music without Mayhem,
• Playing without Panadol, or
• Harmony without Headaches!
When children play instruments successfully they develop in many learning areas but the whole idea of getting out the instruments with a group of bouncy preschoolers often causes stress. This workshop will give you ideas and material to ensure success.
Through playing instruments children gain in many ways
• Team skills and social confidence grow
• Awareness of differences in sounds, and listening skills are finely tuned
• Language understanding and ability to follow instructions is fostered
• A sense of timing and internal rhythm is developed
• Musicality develops
• Feelings of success when it all sounds good together
So how can we create these experiences successfully, without causing headaches for all?
This workshop will give you strategies for teaching instrument activities effectively, easy warm-up activities and games, as well as easy to use ideas to transform other songs you may love.
We will also include ideas on ways to create instruments cheaply, helping your budget stretch further.
Songs will be sourced from our compiled resource: Shake Rattle & Drum. Some songs develop basic skills, and others use the structure of a movement song to develop parts for instruments to play.
Note: Please bring a drum (or ice cream box) and a shaker with you. Other instruments will be supplied.
